Thousands of people protested during President Trump's rally and his proposed border wall on Monday, February 11 in El Paso. Former Texas Congressman and El Paso native Beto O'Rourke spoke at the protest rally within a few feet where Trump spoke at the El Paso County Coliseum.
“We together are making a stand for the truth against lies and hate and ignorance and intolerance. We’re gonna show the country who we are. The president describes Mexican immigrants as rapists and criminals. We have the chance to tell him and the country immigrants commit crimes, including violent crimes at a lower rate than do Americans who are born in this country. El Paso has been the safest city in the United States of America, not in spite of the fact that we’re a city of immigrants, but because we are a city of immigrants.”
